The participant must save all the personal tracks and waypoints that they have in their GPS and appear only with the data of the challenge’s course. The organization is not responsible for the loss of records registered in the participant’s GPS.
Each participant is responsible for the operation and handling of their respective GPS equipment. The same applies to the maintenance and preservation of information and charging of the respective batteries.
In this second edition of The Castles Quest, registration in the event is confirmed through payment of a €50.00 security deposit to an IBAN to be indicated.
This security deposit will be returned in cash to all registered participants on the last day of the event when the participant returns the Geolocator provided on the day of accreditation. This security deposit’s purpose is to provide the organization credible information on the total number of registered participants who will effectively participate in the event, as well as to guarantee the return of the equipment at the end of the event. This way, the organization may responsibly prepare, organize, and complete all the services it proposes to offer to those registered on the day of the event, without fail and with the quality that this event deserves.
The security deposit will not be returned to those who do not proceed with their accreditation in the event. Payment of the deposit will be made at the site of the entity contracted by the “Historical Villages of Portugal – Touristic Development Association to organize the event,” Desafiacontece, Lda.
When you have finished filling out the registration form, you will have the address where you can view the information on payment of the security deposit. Additionally, an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address provided with the full content of this text and information on payment of the security deposit.
In both adventures (8day/2days), registration can be made alone, by Teams of 2, or Teams of 4.
The possibility to go through The Castles Quest in teams allows the Villages challenge to be shared as a team, which has oftentimes strengthened the history of the Historical Villages of Portugal.
The course may be divided, with each element of the team doing a part of the same, and this division of responsibilities being up to the participants. During registration, the team must inform the organization of the part of the course to be taken by each element.
The Castles Quest event is accomplished by the participant according to the self-supported principle; in other words, it is the athlete’s responsibility to plan the entire event.
The organization is willing to inform in advance of services that it may provide throughout the days of the event, indicating different options for room and board, meals, and complementary services in the Adventure Guide (GR22 resource guide).
Regardless of the self-supporting concept, during the days of The Castles Quest, the organization is responsible for accompanying the event through security or technical assistance whenever solicited by the participant.
The Castles Quest presents a very particular and rich Historic nature, incomparable to all the other similar events held worldwide.
In this regard, the organization offers unexpected moments throughout The Castles Quest, which can make you more than just a participant in an adventure. You will go through courses made by knights, with each day making you a conqueror.
Participants registered in The Castles Quest will be covered by an insurance policy, according to Decree-Law no. 10/2009, of January 12.
